Because every job has its twists – and she's telling them.

Alexa Servodidio, LCSW / Psychotherapist

Alexa Servodidio is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and psychotherapist who has spent over fifteen years helping individuals, couples, and families navigate anxiety, trauma, PTSD, and the aftermath of abuse and loss. What started as a plan to attend law school changed the moment a field placement put her on a psychiatric unit — and she never looked back.

In this episode, Alexa walks us through what trauma therapy actually looks like in practice: how EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) helps the brain “unstick” traumatic memories, what a safety contract is and how it works with high-risk clients, and the emotional toll of carrying other people’s hardest moments home with you. She also shares the case that became the basis for her second book — a years-long relationship with a client that redefined what recovery could look like.

Beyond her private practice, Alexa hosts her own radio show, Insight into Healing (Wednesdays at 8pm EST on BlogTalkRadio), and an internet TV show, The Alexa Show. Before her career in mental health, she spent over fifteen years acting on stage, television, and in film.
